Tea Tasting at Bois Cheri

If you love nature and tea, you don’t want to miss the tea tasting at the Bois Cheri chalet. Located just a short drive from the tea factory and museum, the chalet is nestled in a pristine natural setting, surrounded by lush greenery, the kind that invokes a quiet sense of peace and relaxation. It offers a panoramic view of the South coast on one side, and overlooks a beautiful volcanic crater lake on the other. Even the drive up there is so beautiful, I had to stop at three different spots to take photos of the tea plantations, fascinating trees, and the lake from all angles! It is one of the most peaceful and green places to visit in Mauritius.

The friendly staff will seat you on the veranda or in the tasting room and bring you a pot of hot water, milk, sugar and some biscuits. Then… let the tasting begin! You can sample your heart out and enjoy a variety of teas (10-12) while soaking in the idyllic views of the lake, tea plantation and palm trees. They mainly offer a range of flavoured black teas such as coconut, exotic fruits, earl grey, and vanilla, but they also have herbal and green tea selections. I guarantee you’ll want to take a few boxes back as a gift for your tea lover friends and family back home (and a few for yourself)!
